Senior Oral Sex Can Enhance Your Intimacy

If you’re in that mindset that senior oral sex is a myth, think again. In 2007 the New England Journal of Medicine reported on the results of a federally funded sex survey about seniors.

One key finding was that oral sex doesn’t fade away as people age–it keeps on giving as a tool for pleasure. According to the survey, more than 50% of those surveyed aged 57 to 75 said they gave or received oral sex during the previous year; about a third of 75- to 85-year-olds reported the same thing. Generally, the survey also found that the healthier you are, the higher your level of sexual activity will be.

If infirmities or other issues like vaginal dryness or inability to maintain an erection are curtailing your ability to have intercourse (and keep in mind these issues can often be resolved with medication), senior oral sex can be a great option for you, both as an alternative to intercourse or as a more intimate form of arousal prior to intercourse.

It may not require as much flexibility, endurance and strength as intercourse and it lends itself to a variety of positions that may be more viable than traditional intercourse positions so you can enjoy both pleasure and comfort during your moments of intimacy.

If you’re with a long-term partner and there’s no concern over STDs, you can choose whether or not a condom is something you need to feel comfortable during senior oral sex on the man. If you’re with a new partner, remember that condoms and dams for women are your best protection against STDs (and you need to be very sure your new partner is “clean” before deciding to forego protection). You can also take advantage of the many sex lubricant products to help with dryness or “taste” issues. These products come in a variety of flavours.

So whether oral sex has always been a part of your sexual relationship, or you’re looking into it as you get older, remember that senior oral sex is just one option for maintaining your intimacy and sexual wholeness as you age.
